If you asked me what the most essential thing was for having a thriving work at home business, I would have to say that a good reputation should be first on the top of the list. Some people just realize get this. It can take months or even years to build a good reputation online and yet, it can also be destroyed in the twinkle of an eye. This article is going to pinpoint few ways to ruin your reputation.

Most likely the best way to destroy your reputation is to deliver a shoddy product. You may be able to get a people to buy them initially, but after they see how inferior the product is, they will either return it or never purchase another item from you again should you have more than one. Eventually, you WILL run out of clients. In addition, once the word spreads that your products are junk, a lot of potential buyers will stay far, far away. And believe me, negative press travels like wild fire.

Another way to destroy your reputation, assuming you have a great product, is to render poor customer service. Believe it or not, clients are going to have questions or problems that will need to be resolved. If you dont get back to these customers, assuming you have even given them a means to reach you, you are going to have quite a few unhappy clients. Customer service is what differentiates one business from another. So if you want to build a strong reputation, deliver quality customer service and in due time.

Lastly, and this is what gets many people into big trouble, that is, bad remarks about the competitor. Look, I understand that you want to explain to folks why YOUR product is better than the competitors own, but you can do this without bad remarks. Nobody welcomes a sales person who knocks somebody else. Its not businesslike and ultimately, word is going to get out that you practice this sot of thing. And when that happens, your reputation will suffer.

These three things are at the top of my list for destroying your reputation.
Ensure you stay focus on them. Remember, there is only a thin line between success and failure.

Home Business Ideas - Learn to Keep Your Word

What does your word mean to you? That is basically the question we are going to discuss in this article. I think the best way to get my point across is with a real life story of mine. Naturally, it is your business and you can manage it the way you like, but you might want to learn one or two lessons from the story I am about to narrate.

I seldom run sales for my products. I will sell them for a limited amount of time at a discount price. Whether I do or not, however, the price of the product at that point in time is the cost of the product. Well, I will sometimes receive an email from somebody either asking for the product at a lower discount or even for nothing. Now, like I said earlier, it is your business and you can manage your way, but you might want to take notes on how I deal with this kind of situation.

I replied the email back to the person that essentially states the following.
It would be bais to my clients who bought the product at the regular or sale price if I gave it to you for less. I treat all my clients equally and therefore, the cost hold firm on it to be fair to others.

Now, you might be enticed to think that no one would know if you did offer the product at a lower discount or even for free. But what if the person who received the special treatment went back to some of his collegues and told them about the transaction and what if one of them paid complete price for the product? Do you not think that person would be a bit mad?

There are a lot of things in respect to our work from home business that are out of our control, such as recessions, technology revolution and even changing trends. We can do the best we can to get ourselves accustomed to them. The only real thing we have control over is our word.

We can either choose to stand by it or not.

Anyway, it is something to think about the next time you decide to launch you own business.

There is an ancient Zen tale that goes like this: A young man had read all the books he could lay his hands on about Zen. He heard about a great Zen master and requested and scheduled to meet with him to ask for teachings. When they were seated, the young man went on to narrate to the master everything he had understood from his reading, saying that Zen is about this and Zen is about that, on and on.

After some time, the master suggested that they have tea. He performed the traditional tea ceremony while the student sat at attention, bowing when served, saying nothing. The master started to pour tea into the students cup. He poured until it was full, and kept pouring. The tea ran over the edge of the cup and onto the table. The master kept pouring as the tea ran off the table and onto the floor.
Finally, the student couldnt contain himself any longer. He shouted, Stop! Stop pouring! The cup is full, no more will go in!

The master stopped pouring and said, Just like this cup, your mind is full of your own opinions and preconceptions. How can you learn anything unless you first empty your cup?

Internet Marketing Business - Where In the Hell Do I Start?

I love visiting the forums. Today, a new member came in and said that he had a good idea for making money but didnt have any inkling on how to put up a web sites, how to set up an autoresponder series, how to create video on a page, how to market, and so on and on so forth. Then he asks, Where do I begin? You know, I understand the frustration of the fresh marketer. I was there some few years back. It is difficult to forgotten the clueless look I had on my face. I certainly havent forgotten what it was like to have no idea where to start from. So while the whole answer to this question is way too long to mention in one article, if you are just begining, this might assist.

The intial thing you do is to sit down and deliberate on what it is you want to do on the internet. This means choosing a niche or subject. Best way to do this is to list all your hobbies and ability. Jot them all down on a piece of paper. Stay away from the computer. Nobody can deliberate at the computer. Peruse your list, one item at a time and see if you can find a topic where there is a market for some kind of product or service.
The simplest way to do this is take each item and go to Wordtracker and Google. Wordtracker will furnish you with the total number of daily searches for that particular niche. Some niches are so vast that literally thousands of people a day search for these items. The next step is to go to Google to see how many competing sites there are for each niche. If there isnt too much competition, you stand a good chance of making money from that niche provided there is a demand that requires spending money. Some niches have no way to monetize them.

Okay, so how do you know if a niche is worth even looking into? Well, the best way is by computing the Keyword Efficiency Index of the niche of KEI as we will hereafter refer to it as. To compute the KEI, you take the number of monthly searches for that niche keyword or phrase, divide it by the number of competing sites and then multiply by the number of monthly searches. Lets do an example.

Lets say our keyword phrase has 3,000 monthly searches and there are 90,000 competing sites. If we do the math (3000/90,000) X 3000, we get exactly 100. Okay, now, what is considered a good KEI? Well, it just so happens that anything at or over 100 is considered a good KEI. The higher the KEI, the better the niche. So this one, while marginal, is still a good niche.

And there you have it. There is your starting point. Begin with this and you will be on your way to building a business that has a good chance of being profitable.

Do People Really Make Money Online? You Can Find Out HERE!

I can understand your frustration, simply because building a business online is more difficult than building a business in the Brick and Mortar world. (I know, because I have tried both!)

First things first, you need to avoid any advertisement, sales page or inducement that tells you how you can make lots of money overnight or in a few weeks or even 60 days. These ads are no more realistic than the lose ten pounds overnight nonsense.

The unscrupulous marketers use your desperation against you to get you involved in their scheme. (I personally challenge any of these so-called marketers to prove they can make thousands in 48 hours from scratch!)

The problem to making money online is two-fold:

1. Expecting to make instant money (Instant gratification) with little or no effort. You are NOT going to make money quickly! It takes time, sometimes a few weeks and sometimes a few months and a lot of work.

2. Wasting huge amounts of efforts on things that do not work.

Most likely, the area you are working in is not yet giving you a return because you are spending too much time on things that are not working.

Without knowing the program you are following, the advice you have been given and the process by which you are using to earn money online, it is difficult to critique what it is you are doing that is not producing an income.

However, I can give you some general techniques that may work for you:
There are two basic rules to making money (this applies in the real world as well as the online world):

Rule #1 STOP SELLING and START GIVING!
Rule #2 If you are not making any money online, refer to rule #1

Have you ever been in a store and there was a lady handing out free food samples? You tried it, you maybe didn't buy the product, however, it gave you a good feeling and you appreciate the store more because they did something nice. This applies in the online world as well.

Make a webpage where you will giveaway something, sort of like a free sample, in exchange for the visitors email address. (You can use a simple html formmail or if you do not have access to that through your domain server, you can use the free PHPlist program.)

Whatever you do, make sure your freebie is valuable enough to get your customer to come back. Many marketers make the mistake of giving away some PLR report or software that is essentially useless to the recipient. Make sure it is useful, and if it is software, make sure it works. (Would you be happy if the free food sample at the store tasted like spoiled milk?)

Once you have their email address, send the freebie, and NOW, you are beginning to build a list. Start to promote that Free Report page everywhere! In forums, twitter, blogs, article directories, web directories.

The trick is to build a targeted list of people who are ALREADY interested in your product/brand/website, because THEY requested your informational freebie. Now use that list and email a newsletter, or short message promoting a different aspect of your business. Send out a new angle each week or 10 days.

Online Marketing Ideas - Assisting the needy

I am not going to call any names because I dont want to humiliate anybody but today I learned about a fellow marketer who needed some assistance financially because of unforeseen challenges. I gave a small donation in order to help out. Since am well off, it was no big deal. And I didn’t do it to get anything back but if you assist others, you are assisting yourself in the process. Let me explain why.

Online marketers, people for that matter, remember when somebody does something pleasant for them. It is just human nature especially when we didnt anticipate the act of kindness. For instance, anytime that anybody has done anything pleasant for me, I always remembered for the future and tried to pay it back in one way or the other. Now, in marketing terms, this can translate to a lot of things. I am going to give you just a couple right off the top of my head.

At the crest of my list is a potential joint venture. Think about it. Who is more probable to want to do business with you? Somebody who doesnt know you from Adam or somebody who you happened to give a helping hand to when they require it most? My cash is on the latter. This doesnt mean that this is going to take place, but there is a much better chance of it occurring if its been proceeded by an act of kindness. Like I said, its human nature. And we all know, joint ventures can lead to great things.

Another thing that can come of this, on a smaller scale, is the person possibly giving you a copy of their latest product. Naturally, we arent going to need every product given to us, but even if we dont require it, if the product is great and IF it has an affiliate program, whats just happened is that we got a hold of a product for free that we can try out and review if we like it. This could lead to sales down the road for us. And of course if the product actually assist us with something, all the better.

Am not saying to donate to every marketer in need unless you can afford to do so but certainly keeping your options open in this area can bring about bigger and better things down the road. And of course, the payment can be in the form of services rendered.

Like I said it is human nature to repay an act of kindness.

Affiliate Marketing Tips - The Advantages & Disadvantages of Conduit Method

If you have been in the affiliate marketing business for any period of time, you have no doubt heard about the Conduit method. You may have even attempted it with great, little or no achievement. If you are on the fence about it, you might want to read this article. I have actually been using this strategy long before it actually came into fashion and I can give you a candid assessment of its advantages and disadvantages.

For those who do not know what the Conduit method means, in a nutshell, it is the creation of a review site in a particular niche where you review a number of products in connection to that niche, giving each one your thumbs up or thumbs down. You may even evaluate each product from one to five stars. The major focus of the method is to give the prospect more than one alternative.

Alright, let us look at the positive side of this, which is actually pretty clear. Lets say you were only marketing one product and a prospect visited your site, viewed your review of the product and for whatever cause, didnt like it. You have no opportunity at a sale. That prospect is going to abandon your site, likely never to return. However, by employing the Conduit method, if the prospect does not like one product, there is always a possibility that they might like a different product. With this tactic, you have multiple opportunity to make the sale.

It would seem from the above explanation that there are really no cons to this strategy. I mean, how can you lose by offering the prospect multiple options? Well, like it or not, there are disadvantages to doing this. For one, some folks need to center on just one thing at a time. They see a page with a large amount of products on it and they get distracted, confounded and ultimately leave the page without purchasing anything at all. That is why the single sales page is still very efficient.

However, there is more to it than a prospect just getting sidetrack. See, in using this tactic, the affiliate himself is spreading him self thin. It is challenging to do one product justice, as far as marketing goes. When you try to tackle multiple products, you are giving yourself a huge amount of work to do, not to mention how much money you are spending on purchasing these products in order to review them. Sure, you can email the product creator and ask for a review copy, but this does not guarantee.

So as you can see, its not all promising on the other side of the street. Personally, I use this strategy and I also send people to one product sales pages. That way, am not putting all my eggs in one basket.
It is something you might want to take into action as well.

One of the things that puzzles me about a lot of home business operators just begining is that they think that they have to do the entire task themselves. When was the previous time you went into a supermarket and saw only one person working there? You have the cashiers, the deli people, the stock people and every once in a while, you even see the manager. One thing you never see is one person running between the cash register and the deli counter. Well, operating your own business shouldnt be like that either. The question is, what do you get others to do or outsource?

To answer that, you need to examine your business. Each one is going to vary. For instance, if you choose that you are going to center your business off of writing articles to promote your sites and you are not a good writer, you might want to consider employing people to do the writing for you. There are two bases for this. The initial is, not being much of a writer yourself, you want the job carried properly. The next is simply, you can get more writing done outsourcing than trying to do it all yourself.

What about your website itself? Do you have any idea about web design? Even if you do, dont want to spend all that time designing a site? Your time could be better utilized actually working on a plan for your business. By employing somebody to build the site for you, we are talking about several hours of time that you dont have to spend yourself on something that can likely be done efficiently by somebody else.

But what if thats your job creating websites? Do you really want to build each site yourself? Couldnt you build a lot more sites if you had a staff of web designers? Even if you had to give out halve of what you charged for the site, the number of sites you could design in a day would more than make up for the money spent on hiring staffs.

Most importantly, you need to examine your business and find out where you can maybe save some time getting others to do the job for you. Otherwise, you are going to find that your company isnt going to grow beyond a certain stage, which is ok if a small business is all you require. But if you want to expand, its not going to occur with you running between the cash register and the deli counter.

Google's Slap on Affiliate Marketers & Ways to Work Around It

The Internet as a whole changes rapidly. Affiliate marketing specifically has changed tremendously within the past few months. Between the Amazon transformation, getting rid of affiliates who reside in states that now demand Amazon collect sales tax and Googles slap on affiliates advertising products on blogs through Pay Per Click where the blogs contain affiliate links, affiliates have taken quite a hit of late. So what do you do when this ensues? This article is going to give you some hints. I hope they be of value.

At the crest of my list is diversification. I have said this from the beginning of my marketing days and I will keep on saying it until I am six feet below. By no means, and I mean BY NO MEANS should you put all your eggs in one basket. I dont care how guaranteed a thing may seem. Nothing lasts forever. I was marketing an affiliate product for over six years. I thought it would sell till eternity. But it didnt. It finally crashed and I gave up on it. Another thing you MUST do is to be current on the industry news. Things just dont take place overnight. Normally, if there is going to be a revolution in affiliate marketing, there is some kind of notice. For instance, this issue with Amazon. We should have perceived this coming as soon as the state laws began coming down the pike. When your state makes a law saying corporations have to begin collecting sales tax from their affiliates, you can be convinced that it won’t be long before it actually takes place. By being ready, you can work on different plans before the hammer drops.

Lastly, always, and I mean ALWAYS be on alert for new products and opportunities. Even though I am presently marketing as many products as I am, I am still searching for new offers to promote. Why? Because I know that there is always a possibility that one of the products I am marketing can crash at any time. People who get sluggish and rest on their past achievement are the ones who end up in mess.
These three easy tips, diversification, keeping up to date with news and constantly be on the search for new products, will keep you out of the affiliate marketing dog house.

Internet Marketing Tips - Knowing the Importance of USP

Do you have any idea how a lot of beginners do not even know what a unique selling proposition (USP) means? More than I care to acknowledge. And for those who understand the principle, a lot of them do not have one or do not know how to come up with one. Well, this article is going to discuss the importance of USP. Hopefully, by the time you are through with reading this article you will know what it is and have a good idea of how to create your own USP.

Ok, a unique selling proposition USP could be just about anything, a phrase, a statement, a logo or even, that shows your visitors what your business or product is all about. For example, my personal USP is that of the no nonsense, to-the-point, honest marketer. I tell it like it is and do not sell your credibility just to make a sale. Every one of my products/services and sites shows this in the way they are designed and in the message I get across to people.

The primary reason this works for me is that I dont have to think of creating a USP for each individual product. I simply utilize the same principle in my sales copy (telling the facts about the product and what it will do and wont do for the visitors) and let the chips land where they may. No, I dont make as much sales as some of the gurus because I refuse to over emphasize things, but the following I have appreciates the angle because they know they will get nothing but the truth.
This USP may not work with everybody just like anything else in life. But that is not the point. By developing your own special USP, you set yourself apart from the competition and thereby giving your business an edge. Look at the way some of the large corporations do it.

Take Nike, for instance, with their saying (Just Do It). They are another no nonsense company that basically tells you that you need to act. Burger King, with their (Have It Your Way) means that you can come into their place and order your burger just the way you like. That is their unique USP.

Search the Internet, the TV, radio, newspapers and just about anywhere that ads run and check out the USP of each advertisement. The really giant ones will stand out.
