The question is simple and straight to the point. Are you receiving the dividend of the effort you’re putting in your affiliate marketing program? Fact is, many people really can’t say. Oh sure, it’s simple enough to figure out when you’re just looking at dollars spent on ad promotion against how much you’re earning per sale. But how about your valuable time? Isn’t THAT worth something to consider? Well, if it isn’t, then maybe you shouldn’t continue read this article. However, if you realize that time is essential, you might want to keep on reading.
Like I said, figuring out the expenses and proceed is simple. You pay 15 cents for each click on PPC marketing campaign; generate a sale on every 100 clicks for a $30 affiliate sale so your income is $20 on every sale…subtract $30 from the $10 you spent on the 100 clicks. Simple, right? But what about your time? What if you’re doing something that doesn’t cost you anything but takes many hours out of your day. In that case, is the affiliate program you’re promoting worth the effort?
This is where figuring out “worth” is not so clear. The reason is quite simple. People place a different value on their time. As for me, my time is worth 100 dollar an hour. So for every hour I put into work, I better at least get $101 back or I’m completely wasting my valuable time. Well, in my case, am aware that every article I write will generate at least one sale. Since it takes me approximately 15 minutes to write an article, which means an article is worth $25 of my time. Therefore, in order for me to make article marketing worth my time, I have to sell an affiliate product that pays me at least $25 per sale.
In reality, I often make more than one sale per article, but most generate me at least one sale. This makes it worth while to do write article for affiliate products PROVIDED that I’m making at least $25 per sale. When you come down to it, this isn’t much different from having to sell a $30 product through Pay Per Click keywords that cost you 10 cents per click. It’s just a matter of the cash either coming out of your wallet or your time.
Point is, before you go about promoting any affiliate program, you MUST figure out what it’s going to cost you to make it work, either through time or money, and how much you’re going to get paid for each sale. Otherwise, you could very well be wasting your time or resources.
To YOUR Success,
